Health care provided in the home involves a team of healthcare specialists who serve
those patients who can best be cared for in their own homes. Home health care is
intended for those who do not require the full time medical care that is provided
by a hospital or extended care facility, but do have a condition of such severity
that they are under the care of a physician and are homebound. Homebound is defined
as lacking the normal ability to leave home without a considerable and taxing effort.
Absences from home of infrequent and short duration would not affect homebound status.
